Puppies
Welcoming a new puppy is an exciting – and often exhausting – time for every pet parent
You may be feeling overwhelmed by the puppy’s near constant needs, or confused about how to best approach puppy problems. Puppies can be a whirl of energy. They’re babies, and full of the needs of any baby animal. They need structure and consistency, as well as boundaries and a lot of love in order to thrive. Together, we can address the most common issues to lay a foundation for a well-behaved pup:
Housetraining (house breaking)
Jumping up on people
Mouthing or biting with sharp puppy teeth
Chewing on clothes, rugs, and furniture
Teething
Coming when called/ recall
Pulling on leash
Counter surfing
Stealing garbage, socks, or other items
In addition to that, puppyhood is when we set foundations for the rest of the pup’s life. It’s a great time to think about:
Sharing (resource guarding prevention)
Socialization to help them feel confident about people, places, other animals, and new experiences
Happy vet visits so that they love to go to the vet
Alone time training/ separation anxiety prevention
Handling and grooming
Bite inhibition for a soft mouth

Whatever you’re up against, we can tackle it together so that you can have a great relationship with your puppy and feel confident as they age, knowing that you’ve met their needs and responded appropriately to their unwanted behaviors. Puppy sessions are shorter since their attention spans are short, but still include plenty of time for you to ask questions about behaviors that may not happen while I’m there. We’ll meet at your house and take socialization field trips. You’ll also have access to me between in-person sessions so that we can troubleshoot problems as they arise, and you can feel supported in your puppy journey!
