Fearful Dogs/ Anxious Dogs

It’s not uncommon for dogs to exhibit fear or anxiety.

These may be very specific or broad spectrum, and they are often disguised as aggressive behaviors as the dog seeks to create distance – to scare away the thing that frightens them.  Fear in dogs can look like:

  • Barking

  • Lunging

  • Growling

  • Trembling

  • Refusal to go somewhere

  • Hiding

  • Panting

I take a whole-dog approach, asking whether pain or discomfort could contribute to the behavior, looking at learning history, and bolstering general confidence as well as taking a measured approach to helping them feel better about what scares them.
